Teacher of Students with Disabilities

The Gateway School is seeking a highly self-motivated and dedicated special education teacher. Experience with students with cognitive and developmental disabilities preferred. Must have knowledge of technology in the classroom. The applicant must also be knowledgeable in instructional practice and working with students at multiple academic and social levels. Experience with behavioral management techniques is a plus.

The Gateway School is a private special education school serving developmentally disabled students aged 5 to 21 located in Middlesex County, NJ.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain daily lesson plans.
2. Develop and implement effective behavior management programs for students in conjunction with support center staff.
3. Provide training, supervision, and direction to any teacher-aide assigned.
4. Maintain and organize classroom supplies, teaching materials, books, etc; inform the Principal of the need to purchase educational materials.
5. Maintain appropriate and professional communication with parents of assigned students.
6. Complete the DLM for identified students.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Principal.

Requirements:

• BA or BS from accredited college or university
• NJ TOSD Certification and NJ Elementary K-6 Certification preferred
• CE OR CEAS required
• New Jersey Criminal History Review

Salary: Starting at $66,000
