Classroom Teaching Assistant

Opening for a Teaching Assistant to work in a NJ Department of Education Approved Private Special Education School.

Honor Ridge Academy is seeking a Classroom Assistant to join our team. Honor Ridge is a state-approved private school for students with disabilities, providing a highly individualized educational and therapeutic environment for students with social, emotional, learning, and behavioral needs. The Classroom Assistant is an important member of our school team and works closely with classroom teachers, clinicians, and administrators to support students academically, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school day.

Any training in positive behavioral support and ABA is a plus. Seeking the right qualified individual who has strong behavioral management and therapeutic skills. Applicants must be able to work in a self-contained special education classroom with enthusiasm and dedication to make a difference for students.

Minimum of 30 college credits required.

Must be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Department of Education Substitute Teacher Certificate.

Responsibilities:

• Support the classroom teacher in providing individualized academic and behavioral instruction.
• Provide consistent support and supervision throughout the school day, including classroom activities, transitions, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and school-wide activities.
• Implement classroom and individual student behavior plans as directed by the teacher and administrative team.
• Assist students in developing appropriate replacement behaviors, self-regulation skills, and positive interactions with peers and adults.
• Maintain a calm, supportive, and consistent presence when responding to challenging behaviors.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and communication regarding student progress and behavior.
