Description of Company: Since 1891, St. Joseph’s School for the Blind has been providing specialized services to individuals with visual impairments across New Jersey. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, the School is comprised of several programs, such as: Early Intervention, In-district Support Services, and School for the Blind, and Adult Services. As a non-sectarian organization, they are proud to serve individuals of all races, creeds and national origins.
Early Intervention Program: St. Joseph’s Early Intervention Program offers guidance to infants and toddlers ranging from birth to 3 years old. Collaborative teams of specialized educators provide personalized instruction to both children and their families within the comfort of their own homes, aiding them in adapting to and overcoming any visual impairments, whether partial or complete
Qualifications:
- New Jersey Department of Education Certification – Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Required)
- Bachelor's degree or higher – Special Education (required)
- At least one year of documented professional experience with individuals from birth to five years of age who have developmental delays and disabilities; OR at least six (6) credits in infant and toddler or early childhood development (required)
Duties:
- Assist families in implementing/carrying through goals and strategies to help children ages birth - 3 years of age with blindness/visual impairment and/or additional disabilities develop to their fullest potential.
- Provide support and guidance to the family.
- Services are provided in the home.
- Must have your own transportation and willing to work in the following counties: Hudson, Union, Essex, Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Morris county.
